As previously promised, here’s the story behind the left hand policy. In Senegal, you never do anything with your left hand. This part is a tad graphic, but useful for anyone traveling in West Africa. If you want you can skip to the next entry but you’ll always be wondering what really is the story behind the left hand policy and you know that eventually you’ll end up reading. But I did warn you. And then I taunted you. So ha!

In one of our classes we were making this special type of tea and as I was pouring it into the cups, I accidentally used my left hand, a very big faux-pas in Africa.

“Chris, don’t use your left hand” said our teacher.

“belieeeeve me, don’t worry about it, hun.”
